The 2008 MENS MODEL HOCKEY CAMP will be held June 9-14, 2008 at Mariucci and Ridder Arenas, which are located on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Applications must be returned by APRIL 15TH, 2008 to be considered for the camp.

This year the camp will be entering its 23rd year of operation. It was created and established to provide high school players in the state of Minnesota with an intense instructional and competitive setting where they would be exposed to different philosophies regarding positional and team play. The underlying goal of MODEL camp is to provide an accelerated experience, so a participant will increase their skill level and understanding of the game. This will help them become a better player, which in the end will improve the competitiveness of high school hockey throughout the state.

The camp also provides participants with the opportunity to display their talents to NCAA member institutions at the Division I and III level. Since its inception, over 250 players who participated at MODEL have received scholarship offers from Division I institutions. This year there were over 200 Minnesotans who played Division I hockey and many more who have gone on to have very good careers at the Division III level. Participants also display their talents to representatives from the United States Hockey League and the National Hockey League scouting staffs.

MODEL camp will run for 6 DAYS and will be limited to 216 participants (12 teams with 18 players assigned to each team). We will use both Mariucci Arena and Ridder Arena and have groups skating simultaneously. The camp is six days in length and will consist of four practices and five games. On three days of the camp we will conduct two on-ice sessions, and have an off-ice activity. Cost for this six-day experience is $360 dollars.

Please print an application and medical release form off our website, fill it out, and mail the forms along with a check to the address listed on the application. It is important that you complete and return the application immediately. Keep in mind that this is a highly desirable camp for the top Minnesota high school players. If you are able to house a player from outside the Metro area, it will increase your opportunity to be accepted to MODEL.

If a participant does not live in the metropolitan Minneapolis-St. Paul area, they will be housed with families who live in the area, and have a son who is a participant in the camp. Families donate this service and a participant who requires housing will not be assessed an additional fee. If you are a participant who lives in the metro area, please consider opening your home to a participant who may live outside the metro and will need housing. Many lasting friendships have started through this exchange. Please indicate to us any housing arrangements that may have been already made so that we can place the players on the same team during the camp.

The staff for MODEL will include the coaches from the University of Minnesota, as well as coaches from Division I and III colleges. I hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity and I'm looking forward to seeing you this summer at the 2008 MODEL HOCKEY CAMP.

Please type your forms or print neatly because all future communication will be done via email. If you are not admitted we will return your check to you.
